Others / Re: The "Melbourne" Sound...
« on: October 07, 2013, 05:59:48 AM »
I agree with Daggers when it comes to production, it is very easy to make a 'hit' Melbourne sound tune, but there are those out there who are trying to put a bit more flair into it for sure.

I think with every genre there's stages of disbelief at the young crowds that love it. When I first started loving bass music and dubstep specifically, I was getting house and techno heads laughing at me and at the genre. Comes with the territory of underground music.

Problem is the culture for this sound is do as many drugs as possible so you can keep jumping to the same beats for hours on end. Definetely a genre that melds a 10 track playlist into a confusing mesh of not knowing where 1 starts and the others begin.

Very cool vibes for this one. Heard it a while ago. Interesting mash of different sounds for sure.

Nice bassline dude. Very addictive stuff. Some mastering issues needed, but that's being picky ;)

As you know Daggers, I use a Vestax VCI-380. Upgraded from my VCI-300, which was a great beginner controller, and still is. The 380 is awesome, velocity pads and all!

It's extremely popular at the moment. As with most 'new' genres, there's a lot of terrible production out there because everyone and their dog is having a go at it. There is some really awesome stuff as well. As with all genres, lots of bad, and just enough good. ;)
